Now THAT'S popular

I was watching a PBS special tonight on the life of Lucille Ball. They said that the TV Guide once reported that Lucille Ball's face has been seen by more people that any other human being's face EVER. Odd bit of trivia... but I thought that was amazing.

I contacted TV Guide to see how you ranked compared to Lucy. Their site was absolutely no help, so I went all the way up the food chain until I reached their VP of Records and Recordkeeping. She couldn't find you in their rankings anywhere. Then we realized why!

Being seen by millions through a rounded hole - no matter how professionally drilled - doesn't count, apparently. Only actual TVs (and not those bolted to ceilings and repeatedly playing movies like "Treasure Island" or "Hot House") are indexed by TV Guide. I even tried the "but under the influence of Jungle Juice *anything* could be thought of as TV" and "Aren't you discriminating against the gays" angles...but they weren't having any of it.

So, Lucy's record stands for now, Davey. But given enough hard work and perseverance (or just waiting for major turnover at TVGuide) perhaps you can - someday - triumph.

You were robbed.
